Join us for a Brush Lettering/Modern Calligraphy Beginners Workshop! Led by local artist and teacher Barbara Farrell, you'll learn the very basics of modern calligraphy lettering — no experience required!

Modern lettering is an art form of creating decorative letters and can be used for making greeting cards, wedding place cards, addressing envelopes, home décor and incorporating into personal artwork. Similar terms for this include modern calligraphy, brush lettering, bounce lettering and hand lettering, all of which have slight variations in style.

This class is designed for beginners who want to learn the basics of brush lettering using markers with a flexible, brush tip.  All supplies will be provided, including a calligraphy brush pen which is yours to take home after the workshop.

This workshop runs from 6:30pm - 8:30pm on Tuesday, October 20th. 

Barbara has been a resident of Gorham for over 25 years and an artist at heart for most of her life. She was a school teacher for 20 years and in 2012, started her own stained glass art business and sells her work in Portland and Bath, Maine. Additionally, Barbara continues to do many types of art for fun, including, lettering, watercolor painting and card-making.

This class is limited to 10 participants. The event will be in our shop at 648 Congress Street in Portland, ME.
